The Skeerhuis family cottage is on Zuuranys farm, 17 km from Kareedouw town (170km from Port Elizabeth) – next to the Zuurveld Mountain Range overlooking the Kouga plains.
The Skeerhuis cottage is a an open plan unit with a double bedroom (bathroom en-suite). The kitchenette with full facilities has also a fridge, gasstove, electricity and utensils.
It is ideal accommodation spot for travellers on route to the Baviaanskloof via the Kouga 4X4 route, but also a beautiful peaceful farmstay on a working farm.
Guests can do hikes to the mountains, or open fynbos-fields.
The Skeerhuis cottage is part of the farmyard, but totally private from the homestead. Guests have access to a private garden with jungle gym.

Kouga Kliphuis has a new campsite for 4x4 campers and trailers on their way to the Baviaanskloof via the Kouga 4x4 or Nooitgedacht – we are on the only southern entrance to the Baviaans. The campsite is 1km from the gravel road and out of sight.
We offer a veld campsite near a huge dam in the kloof with a splendid view. Total privacy and silence are guaranteed. You can swim and fish or do some trails in the veld and mountains. There is running water at the ablution block – a gas geyser provides hot water for your shower and the kitchen area.
We do sell fire wood at the farmhouse on your way. There are 6 levelled 8x6m sites around the ablution block, but plenty open veld sites to choose from.

On request can 4x4 enthusiasts do a wild ride on the adventurous Zuuranys 4x4 trail up to the Pospad-ridge and/or around the Hoefyster- pass and Bergtee-incline back to the campsites – approx. 2.5 hours.

Fishing – small mouth bass, carp & barble are fished in the kouga river, catch & release is encouraged, however the bass & barble are a tasty eating fish. Please bring your own fishing equipment

Hiking- a very relaxing & fearly easy hike of about 6 km. (round trip) up a ravine ending at a 52 metre waterfall, or at a balancing rock formation will be enjoyed by all ages & fitness levels. The hike begins behind the kliphuis and is clearly sign posted & marked, it will take approx. 2.5 to 3 hrs. At a slow walk to complete a round trip. By taking drinks and snacks along you could enjoy a peacefull picnic anywhere along the route surrounded by nature.
Walks up & down the river banks may also be enjoyed but are unmarked.
